INTRODUCING MYSELF
Hello and a warm welcome from Western Australia! My name is Rex Woodmore.

2024 I AM A PRODUCT DEVELOPER & Visual Artist
(Retired from Horticulture, Floriculture, Re-vegetation & Mineral Prospecting)

If you are a manufacturing & merchandising company.
I would like to send you my product submission for your consideration to licence, manufacture and market this new weeding watering and transplanting tool. (My work on this product includes a fully functional prototype and an example hang-sell clip display card. )
My invention is not a re-vamped product , it is new to the market and does not replace or devalue any existing home garden product.
For many, the quarter acre block of rolling green lawns, fruit trees and veggie gardens is out and pocket handkerchief lawns and raised garden beds are in. It is this segment of the rapidly growing home garden market, that this tool is most suited. As a retired Horticulturalist & ex sales representative for Australia's largest home garden companies, I'm confident this unique tool will appeal to young home gardeners and old arthritic ones like me! It is small, light weight, gentle on arthritic hands but brutal on weeds! |
MY ARTWORK - acrylic paintings on canvas.
(canvas, stretched canvas & canvas panel). I am best known for my 'family friendly' #treepaintings with birds, animals and trees. My Jacaranda tree paintings have proven popular around the world and are featured in various publications including a University book, with ten of my paintings.
Also on a CD cover and on the cover of an Italian novel. |
My paintings have been well received in the US, where 28 of my paintings are in the private 'Arizona Castleton Collection' and my largest Jacaranda tree painting is in Florida I also have corporate & private clients in Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam, UK & Italy.
My work is popular with singers & musicians, several of whom have used my art in conjunction with the promotion of their own work .

1945 I was born in the UK, to adventurous parents and believe it or not, I am the son of a British Secret Service Agent (Mi4). Dad a 'Government Lands Officer' was in reality a British spy. As part of Dad’s cover story, my mother, brother and I (and even our Dalmatian dog) traveled around the world, sometimes as the only civilians on naval ships. By the time I was 9 years old, I had birthdays in England, Egypt, Cyprus, Mauritius and Mombasa (where I started school) and finally my present home here in Western Australia.
My memories of these countries always include trees and with a name like ‘WOODmore’. It should be no surprise that ‘I love trees!’ Much of my 50 years work history included trees. I have grown and planted thousands of trees. In retirement (2009) I re-invented myself as a self taught artist and trees seemed a logical basis for my paintings of many species of #world #famous #trees #Jacaranda #Eucalyptus #Boab #Acacia #Palmtrees. I appreciaye the wonders of the naturakl world ‘God’s creation ismy inspiration’

I AM A TREASURE HUNTER- Perhaps at 78 yrs old I should say 'Was!' ...Although I still treasure hunt for treasure hunting books, in thrift shops and I still swing a metal detector in the bush and on the beach when the weathers right. But I am not so keen on digging in the red dirt of the outback when it's 45 degrees C. in the shade.
I've dived on shipwreck treasure, I am a successful mineral prospector and I have found interesting historic artifacts which are now in the shipwreck museum. I guess I can call myself a Treasure Hunter

My Artistic Journey
"God's Creation IS MY INSPIRATION He Put The Art In My Heart"
My art journey began in October 2009 when I retired from the horticulture & revegetation industries and I surprised my wife Lyn by saying:
“I am going to re-invent myself as an artist!”

MY TRASH- NO WORSE THAN OTHER PEOPLE'S TRASH
Much of my employment had involved trees.
With a name like WOODmore trees seemed a logical subject for my paintings. I turned to the Internet where I admired the work of great artists who seemed to share my passion for the diverse beauty of trees & other flora. Artists such as:Claude Monet, Albert Namatjira, Hans Heysen, Frederick McCubbin, John Glover, & Tom Roberts. I could understand why people would want to own such beautiful works but to my untrained & uneducated eye, many other paintings by well known artists had me thinking:
'This art is trash & yet some people treasure it!’’ Then I remembered the old saying:
'One man's trash is another man's treasure!" Finally I came to the conclusion:
‘’My trash could surely be no worse than other people’s trash!”
I hope my achievements indicate that my work is generally not seen as trash (?)

The birth of ‘Rex Woodmore-Famous Tree Paintings’ .
Lyn had suggested that an artist had to be known before they could sell their work.
As one would expect of his wife, Lyn was right. Again I turned to the Internet, a great place for blatant self-promotion and ‘Rex Woodmore -Famous Tree Paintings’ was born.
There are dozens of online venues to display ones art and at one time I had my work on over 50 online galleries from Great Britain to Russia and everywhere in between.
I was getting perhaps an average of 50 hits per week on each gallery (it could be much more) - 2500 hits a week - 130,000 hits a year around the world! After about 4 years it comes to over half a million hits! (Imagine a fisherman with 130,000 baited lines in the ocean. Sooner or later he gets a bite and catches a fish!).
I wasn't using hooks, I was using a 'net' ..the Internet! I have never had to pay to display my work. Even my own websites cost me nothing and are easy to setup & maintain with no ongoing fees & without any nasty advertisements.

BOOK COVER BOOST
When I was contacted by Fiordo (A prestigious graphics company in Italy) I was greatly encouraged by the thought that out of literally millions of images on the Internet, they noticed my work and they wanted one of my Jacaranda paintings for a book cover.
The original painting "Jacaranda Journalism' is FOR SALE! (As at Aug 2023).
The painting was copied with a 2000 print run of a special book club edition of the novel.

REFLECTING ON MY DISCOVERY OF Eromdoow
Lyn & I dislike living in suburbia but current circumstances keep us here and I often image the rural setting I would like to be in. In the titles of my paintings I apply alliteration (The first & second word start with the same letter) and sometimes it is a struggle to come up with a name. I had completed a painting of what I imagined was the entry to my ideal rural property (my ‘dreamland’ if you like) and ‘Woodmore Estate’ kept coming to mind, so after much ‘reflection’ (there is your clue! Like a mirrored image)
I settled on: ‘Eromdoow Estate’. From then on many of my works depict scenes of ‘Eromdoow’ in which I allow myself to ignore botanical correctness.

It was rather embarrassing when an admirer of my painting 'Eromdoow Estate' contacted me from the U.S. to say she would love to visit Eromdoow someday. |
In my idealistic land of Eromdoow (Pictured above) like the original perfect world created by God for Adam & Eve, everything lives in perfect symbiotic harmony . In this tranquil, beautifully balanced, biodiverse land, my paintings may be based on Australian scenes, but if I ever thought the scene lent itself to the inclusion of exotic species of fauna or flora (perhaps a lion lying at peace with a flock of lambs under the shade of a Coolabah tree or a giraffe with a Jacaranda) then I would find a place for them.
ANOTHER INTEREST -TREASURE HUNTING
I HUNT FOR TREASURE & HAVE FOUND TREASURE
So I guess I can call myself a Treasure Hunter (?)
After five decades of employment in many interesting industries including mining, offshore gas rig labouring, Horticulture at many levels and environmental management, I now pursue the even more interesting aspects of life, like art and treasure hunting which includes, Metal detecting, Mineral Prospecting & Shipwreck treasure hunting on land and in the sea. http://oztreasure.weebly.com
DETECTING COINS, JEWELLERY & ARTIFACTS
Way back in about 1963 the first detector I used on the beach (without success) was a huge heavy thing, a borrowed WW2 mine sweeper.
In the 1980’s, in the Yalgoo goldfields I got my vehicle horribly bogged and after hours of digging it out I had to use a White’s Metal Detector to find the jack that had been swallowed up in the mud (that was all I found on that trip).
Sometime later on my first serious attempt at gold panning and metal detecting, I found the equivalent of two days wages in tiny gold nuggets, in about 3 hours in the rain, with a plastic bag over the detector. http://oztreasure.weebly.com
